Step 1. Apply for Admission

The first step to enrolling in CCD is to create an account and apply online. Don’t forget to save your student identification number.

  • There is no application fee.
  • College Opportunity Fund (COF) pays a portion of your total in-state tuition and is eligible for undergraduate students. Simply apply for the COF on your admissions application (see the last question). You can also learn more about COF here.

Step 2. Send Your Official Transcript for Evaluation

Please send official transcripts from your previous colleges or universities directly to the Office of Registration & Records. You can submit your official transcripts in one of the following formats:

MAIL TRANSCRIPTS Send the official transcripts to the Office of Registration & Records:
Community College of Denver
Campus Box 201
P.O. Box 173363
Denver, CO 80217
ELECTRONIC TRANSCRIPTS Order your transcript to be delivered directly to CCD in electronic format. If the service asks for an email address, the transcript must be sent to Transcripts@ccd.edu. This method is only for colleges that use any of the following methods for sending transcripts:
- Parchment
- E-Transcripts
- Credentials Solutions, Inc.
- National Student Clearinghouse

Note: If sending electronically, the transcript must be received from the vendor directly so be sure to provide Transcripts@ccd.edu as the recipient email address when ordering. Do not order electronic transcripts to be emailed to your personal email address and then forward to CCD; the transcript will be considered unofficial if you do so. Please allow 24-72 hours for transcripts to be received.
Bring official transcripts to the Office of Registration & Records. They must still be sealed in the original envelope to be considered official.

What Happens Next?

Once official transcripts have been evaluated, we will notify you via email or text message that your credits have been evaluated and you can log into CCDConnect to review Degree Works, which will tell you what credits have been applied toward your declared program of study.

Please note important reminders:

  • We cannot begin evaluating transcripts without having a student ID number on file.
  • We accept transfer credits from regionally accredited institutions recommended by the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers and as specified by Colorado Community College System (CCCS) articulation agreements.
  • We will evaluate your transfer credits on a course-by-course basis. You must have a grade of a "C" or better.
  • Courses with a "Pass" or "Satisfactory" will only transfer if there is documentation on the back of the transcript showing that it is equivalent to a "C-" grade or higher.
  • Graduate and/or doctoral-level coursework will not automatically transfer into CCD. This will need approval by the Dean of the specific degree program. Contact our office with any questions you might have.
  • Coursework beyond 10 years may not automatically transfer. Please contact our office to inquire about the expiration of coursework.
  • Only courses that apply to your designated program of study on the account will be automatically transferred during the evaluation process.

International Transcripts

If transcripts are from an institution outside of the U.S., they must be evaluated by an approved evaluation services agency and translated, if not in English, before they can be submitted to CCD. Approved translation agencies can be located at www.NACES.org. Send the official international transcript to one of the approved agencies listed here. You will need to click on “Current Members” to view the list of approved agencies. Be sure to request that an official copy of the course-by-course credit evaluation report be sent directly to CCD.

Step 3. Apply for Financial Aid

Fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This is your application for all federal and state grants, loans, and work-study.

If you are receiving financial aid from another institution, you can use your existing FAFSA to apply for financial aid at CCD. Go to FAFSA.ED.GOV and log into your application using your FSA ID to add CCD's Federal Student Code: 009542

Step 4. Determine Course Placement

In general, students who have completed college-level English and math coursework at a regionally accredited institution of higher education with a grade of “C” or higher are exempt and do not need to take a placement test. Students with minimum ACT/SAT scores within the past five (5) years may also be exempt. However, if the English and math assessment requirements are not met through the transfer of credits you may need to provide unofficial/official test scores to the Testing Center or determine course placement through another means.

Step 5. Complete Orientation

Guest students are encouraged to complete a new student orientation to learn about the resources at CCD.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and its ongoing impact CCD has switched to an online orientation platform. The online new student orientation covers important topics such as course placement options, academic advising, campus resources, financial aid and scholarships, getting involved on campus, and registering for courses.

To access the online orientation log into CCDConnect. Once you are logged into the student portal, click on CCD Orientation announcement presented in red.

Step 6. Get Academic Advising

Connect with your assigned academic advisor through the Academic Advising and Student Success Center by calling 303.556.2481. We serve students through appointments made through CCDConnect. Availability depends on the time of the semester.

As a transfer student, seeing your assigned academic advisor is critical, ensuring that you choose the right program or major for your education and career goals, and reach the goal of graduation and/or transfer.

Step 7. Register for Classes

Register for your classes early for the best selection of classes and times.

Step 8. Access Your CCD E-Mail Account

Your student CCDConnect email account is the official means of communication between you and the College. Once you have registered for classes, you will gain access to your student email account. At least once a week you should sign in to the CCDConnect web portal and view your registration, financial aid status, and check your email.

If you are unable to access your student email account, contact the 24/7 helpline at 1.888.800.9198 for log-in assistance.

Step 9. Complete the Payment Process

Make payment arrangements at least one week before classes start.

If you miss the payment deadline, you may be dropped from all classes and your original classes may no longer be available.

Payment options are available.
