The Women Intentional about Success and Excellence (WISE) program provides professional and leadership development, facilitates social engagement, and assists with establishing the support essential for degree completion for women attending Community College of Denver (CCD).

WISE encompasses the CCD mission statement, striving to create a space and opportunity for continued growth, ensuring participants are well prepared to “Go Anywhere” and achieve the personal success they desire. As a WISE participant, you will stand out on campus as a woman who is committed to excellence, determined to break through barriers and build community as you accomplish your goals. The WISE program is designed with your success in mind.

In order for you to take full advantage and complete the WISE program, we have established a framework that outlines the level of commitment we would like to see from each WISE participant.

WISE participants are required to:

  • Attend four events per academic year: Annual WISE R.O.S.E Reception and Women Empowerment Symposium (both in the fall); Women's Empowerment Week and End-of-the-Year C.H.A.T. (both in the spring)
  • Attend eight WISE workshops before completing a degree and or transferring.
  • Participate in at least one (1) WISE coordinated community service learning volunteer project per academic year.
  • Check your school email on a regular basis for updates and announcements regarding WISE programming and information. All WISE related information will be emailed to student email addresses only.
  • RSVP for every event to ensure we are prepared to accommodate attendees.
  • Actively participate and engage in meaningful dialogue within group discussions and with guest speakers. Active participation is a critical element for continued leadership growth.
  • Attend two campus events outside of WISE programming (workshops, cultural events, campus guest speakers, etc.) per academic year.

It is important to remember that the WISE program is comprised of a diverse population with a diverse range of views and opinions. WISE members are expected to respect the opinions of fellow WISE members, value our differences, and use WISE discussions, meetings, and workshops as a catalyst for continued learning and growth. To ensure open and honest dialogue, participants are required to keep the views and opinions expressed during WISE functions/meetings within the confines of WISE functions/meetings.

All electronic devices (cell phones, iPods, iPads, etc.) must be in the off or vibrate position and stored away during meeting time.

Your acceptance into the WISE program assumes a certain level of professionalism. Any actions in direct opposition to the mission and values of CCD, or actions intended to cause any harm to participants can lead to your immediate referral to the Office of Student Conduct.

With intent to be legally bound, I give permission to the Women Intentional about Success and Excellence (WISE) Program, Community College of Denver and to the Colorado Community College System to photograph or videotape me and use my name, and my remarks given in an interview for the purpose of promoting CCD and the Women Intentional About Success and Excellence Program to the public. I relinquish all rights, title, and interest in the finished photographs, negatives, and videotape film. I give my permission to CCD to use my image without reimbursement to me, for publication, electronic media, exhibition or any other appropriate purpose.

As a WISE Participant, we strongly encourage you to:

  • Strive for excellence. Challenge yourself to maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher. With a 3.0 or higher GPA, you are in a position to qualify for scholarships that will help pay for your education. If you have less than a 2.5 GPA, work with your Academic Advisor or Retention Specialist to create a To Do List that will outline strategies to improve your GPA and connect you to resources and support.
  • Be intentional. Declare a major. If you have not declared a major, meet with advisors at the Career Development Center (303.352.3306) to complete Career and Interest Assessments.
  • Get Involved. Participate in the WISE student group and other on-campus organizations. It will help you obtain lifelong marketable skills and the opportunity to take on and practice being a leader.
  • Stay prepared. Have an updated resume and cover letter in both hard copy and electronic copy form. If you do not have one, contact the Career Development Center (303.352.3306) for assistance.
