Secured Building Access

Ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees, students, and campus community is our foremost concern. Starting in fall 2023, we are transitioning to a more secure building access model across all CCD campus locations. This means having a Campus ID Badge will be essential for entering most campus buildings during their regular operating hours. This decision, made collaboratively with other Auraria campus institutions, aims to enhance security and provide a safer environment for everyone at CCD.

Key Dates and Phases:

  • September 2 - October 1 | During this "reduced entry" phase, select entry points in most buildings will not require a badge. This window offers you the opportunity to become familiar with the new badge access system.
  • Starting October 2 | All campus buildings will be classified as open, limited entry, or badge access only. Access to "badge access only" buildings will require a CCD badge.

FAQs

  • For Faculty and Staff:
    • New employees will need to come to the HR office on their first day of work to get their ID badge paperwork.
    • Any employees who have never obtained a CCD Badge/Campus ID will also need to come to the CCD HR office to get their ID badge paperwork.
      • CCD HR is located on the 5th Floor of King Center. The form must be signed by Shakyra Edwards or Shana Stovall from HR to be a valid form.
    • Get your ID photo taken and collect your badge at the Tivoli Student Union (Suite 269).
    • Deadline for obtaining badge: September 29, 2023.

  • For Students:
    • Visit the Student ID Center in Tivoli Student Union (Suite 269).
    • Bring a government-issued ID and a copy of your semester schedule.

Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 5, through Friday, Oct. 6, the Campus ID Badge Station hours will be extended to:

  • Monday through Thursday | 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Friday | 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Saturday | 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • Sunday | CLOSED
  • PLEASE NOTE THE ENTIRE AURARIA CAMPUS AND THE CAMPUS ID BADGE STATION LOCATED IN THE TIVOLI STUDENT UNION WILL BE CLOSED FROM SATURDAY, SEPT. 2, THROUGH MONDAY, SEPT. 4.

Listed below are regular ID services that will resume on Monday, Oct. 9:

  • Monday through Thursday | 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Friday | 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday | CLOSED

All students, staff, and faculty will have campus ID badge access during building hours. Most classroom buildings will be accessible via ID badge between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. 

The campus ID and the badge are the same thing. If you already have a campus ID, you do not need a new one for it to work when we move to the final phase of securing our campus buildings.

You are not required to wear your badge/campus ID. However, we recommend you always keep it with you while on campus, and we provide you with a CCD lanyard to make it easy to keep with you at all times.

Employees should coordinate with their supervisors to determine if after-hours access is required and follow the usual protocol of providing that level of access through CCD Facilities if necessary.

  1. Deactivate your badge by calling Access Control at 303.556.4296.
    • Employees must report lost or stolen badges to HREP@ccd.edu and their supervisor.
  2. Obtain a replacement badge for $24 at the Student ID Center in Tivoli Student Union (Suite 269).

  • Signs will guide visitors to staffed entrances. Kindly direct visitors to attended or unlocked entrances.
  • As an employee, you're expected to guide your visitors and accompany them while on campus.
  • Exterior entrances will have department contact information for unexpected visitors.

  • Your vigilance is crucial. Stay aware of your surroundings both on and off campus.
  • Please refrain from allowing unfamiliar, unbadged individuals into any campus building.
