How to Change Your Residency Classification

Apply for Financial Aid and Scholarships

  • In order to be considered for CCD Scholarships, students are required to submit the Colorado Application for Student Financial Aid (CASFA).
  • Apply for Scholarships by the Scholarship Priority Deadline (April 15th).
    • Complete the CCD Scholarship Application with a 400-600 word essay and submit high school transcripts or GED scores, if applicable.
    • ASSET, DACA, and Undocumented Students must select "YES" to the following question:
      • Are you a Deferred Actual DACA, ASSET, or Undocumented Student? If you select "YES," Institutional and Foundation scholarships are available to you. This information is confidential and is only used for scholarship purposes.)
    • Register in at least six (6) credit hours.
    • You can still apply after the scholarship priority deadline to be considered for any future opportunities.
  • If you need assistance with your CASFA or CCD Scholarship Application, send an email to the scholarship team to schedule an appointment at scholarships@ccd.edu.

Completing the steps will allow CCD to consider you for a scholarship. If you are DACA or Undocumented student, you are not eligible for federal or state financial aid (Grants, Loans, or Work-Study), so it is highly encouraged that you apply for scholarships to earn tuition assistance. Effective Fall 2019, if you qualify for ASSET in-state tuition, you may qualify for state aid.  We are here to help!

You have several options to determine your placement in English and/or math courses. CCD provides several options to determine which classes are best for you.

If you believe you will need accommodations for your test due to a disability, please contact the Accessibility Center.

Part 1: Complete SOAR Online
SOAR is CCD’s online orientation and an important part of getting started as a new student. It covers key information you will need as you begin at CCD, including how to choose classes, register for courses, access financial aid and scholarships, connect with campus resources, and get involved on campus.

To complete SOAR, log in to CCDConnect and open Success Onboarding and Resources in the student portal.

Part 2: Complete ID Verification
As part of the orientation process, all students are required to complete ID verification. This step helps CCD protect students and prevent identity theft.

To complete virtual ID verification, students must do both of the following:

  1. Upload a copy of their ID using the online form.
  2. Attend a virtual drop-in ID session.

Virtual ID sessions are held every Monday and Thursday from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. via Microsoft Teams.

In-Person Orientation (Next Steps)
CCD also offers in-person Next Steps sessions throughout the semester. New students will receive an email invitation with available dates and times.

Next Steps covers the same important information students need to get started at CCD, including next steps for enrollment, campus resources, registration guidance, and support services.

Bring Your Photo ID
Students attending an in-person orientation should bring a valid government-issued photo ID. ID verification will be completed during the event, so there is no need to attend a separate virtual ID session.

Register early for the best selection of classes and times. To register for your classes, log in to your CCDConnect student account and click on the Navigate icon. Click on the planner tab to see your planned courses and build your schedule. Pick the dates and times that work best for you for each course.
