The EXCEL! Zone provides free tutoring and other academic services for the CCD community. We have tutors available to help with math and science, writing, and digital literacy.
We also have a computer lab, study spaces, calculator rentals, and academic workshops.
Please note: we will be closed for the week of Thanksgiving break (November 25-28).
The Math and Science Zone provides support for Math, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology courses.
The Writing Zone provides a collaborative space designed for CCD students seeking assistance with their writing assignments across various disciplines.
The Digital Zone is dedicated to supporting students, faculty and staff in digital literacy and digital storytelling.
Do you like free coffee, hot chocolate, and snacks? Honestly, who doesn't? Stop by the EXCEL Zone (Confluence 4th floor) on these dates:
to pick up some delicious studying fuel. While you're here, you can study for finals with our tutors or in one of our quiet study spaces.
In-person tutoring hours:
In-person tutoring is drop-in only (no appointment required). Just come to the fourth floor of the Confluence building and check in, then head to one of our tutoring labs. For more information or to learn about online tutoring options, please see the pages for each zone.
Online tutoring is available by appointment. You can schedule a 30-minute video call with one of our EXCEL Zone tutors. We use a platform called Accudemia to schedule and organize online appointments.
Here's the process for scheduling an online tutoring appointment:
You may schedule up to five online sessions per week, with up to two sessions in one day. You may not schedule two sessions in back-to-back time slots.
If you have any questions or run into any issues, please email ccd.excel@ccd.edu or reach out to any of our EXCEL Zone coordinators. We are happy to help.
Our computer lab is located in CNF 412, and is open for student use. Students also have a number of free printing credits, which they can use on our printers in the computer lab.
Students may check out calculators from the EXCEL Zone front desk for day use. TI-83/84 and scientific calculators are available. You will be asked to provide collateral in the form of a student or government-issued ID or other valuable item.
The Digital Zone has soundbooths available for student, staff, and faculty use; for more information, contact the Digital Literacy Coordinator.
We have computers in all tutoring labs and in our computer lab, and headphones are available for use within our center.
