CCD's Advanced Manufacturing Center is pleased to offer a variety of non-credit continuing education courses and offerings for the employer and resident community. HEIDENHAIN CNC Programming

 

HEIDENHAIN Controllers provides technical training covering installation, programming, and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming as well as general training for distributors and end-users. CCD’s Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMC) is one of two U.S.-based official training sites for HEIDENHAIN Controllers.

Who Should Attend

This non-credit training is recommended for basic CNC operators, but anyone can attend, regardless of your prior experience (must be at least 18 years old).

Participants will receive an official certification from the HEIDENHAIN Corporation.

Course Contents

  • Basic knowledge: File management, tool table, presettable
  • Path functions: cartesian contour description, polar contour description
  • Cycles: drilling cycles, cycles for milling pockets, studs and slots, face milling, SL cycles, coordinate transformation cycles
  • Programming techniques: program section repeats, sub-programming, nesting
  • Pattern definitions: DXF converter and the simple contour formula

Objectives of the course: The course participants can create and test programs from workpiece drawings with HEIDENHAIN TNC controllers/controls (TNC 640 and iTNC530).

Cost

The cost is $700 per person. Participants are responsible for travel, meals, and lodging.

Mastercam

Mastercam 2019 includes many new features and enhancements. This one-day, non-credit training is designed for anyone who has a basic understanding of Computer Numeric Control (CNC) machining. Take the next step into Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) programming by attending this introductory course. 

Taught by an experienced CNC machining instructor with ten years of hands-on Mastercam experience in machining prototyping. The training is held in the computer lab at the Community College of Denver's Advanced Manufacturing Center. Must be at least 18-years-old to attend.

Metal Art

Two-Saturday Metal Art Sculpture Class (2021) | Saturdays | 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. | TBD

  • Take home a Metal Art project each day! Fee ($300.00) includes two Saturdays of fabrication welding instruction, equipment, and materials. 
  • Please wear boots, long-sleeved shirts, and long pants (jeans are fine- no synthetics or athletic wear). Wear a mask.
  • No experience necessary. Taught by Erica Rawson, a passionate welding instructor, fabricator and artist.

Women in Welding Workshop

  • Interested to learn an amazing new skill?
  • Try your hand at wire welding and take home your own project! Fee ($150.00) includes one Saturday of fabrication welding instruction, equipment, and materials.

Welding

Welding is one of the most sought-after skills employers are looking for in today’s competitive market. If you are a beginner looking to understand the basics, or you’re experienced and want to improve your welding skillset, you've come to the right place. These evening sessions are facilitated in an open-lab format. Our trained facilitators will get you started on a project that meets your needs. We also offer the option to prepare for and earn an American Welding Society (AWS) D1.1 certification exam at our facility.

CCD welding instructors facilitate our open labs.

Five-Evening Welding Workshop Open Lab | Fee - $394.00 for 5 sessions*

Fifteen-Evening Qualification Workshop | Fee - $1,440.00 for 15 sessions*

AWS Qualification Exams | $200 per exam

Women in Welding Workshop | $150 for 1 Saturday session

Two-Saturday Metal Art Sculpture Class | Fee - $300.00 for 2 sessions includes supplies and materials

Wire EDM Level 1

We offer wire Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) basic training for beginners. All training is on the Agie Charmilles Cut20p Wire EDM machine and led by our experienced wire EDM instructors at Community College of Denver.

Who Should Attend

Course Content

  • Wire Electro Discharge Machining (EDM) safety and operational concepts.
  • Standard components and basic preventative maintenance of wire EDM machines.
  • Basic operating and troubleshooting in wire EDM machining.

$150 per person for one 8-hour course. Maximum 6.
