Northstar Supplemental Support

Northstar Digital Literacy is a website that teaches students digital literacy skills. Each of the fifteen modules have assessments ready to test students' knowledge. Assessments are tests that students take to earn a certificate. A passing score is between 85 -100%. Students get certified when a Digital Zone tutor proctors them while they pass a test. Proctoring ensures that test takers pass an assessment without using notes or cheating. A passed and proctored assessments earns a learner a certificate in a module.

As of November 2022, ten out of fifteen Northstar modules have lessons that teach the contents of the assessment. Northstar continues to develop lessons for each of their modules.

The Digital Zone received a Lumina Foundation grant to help CCD students earn more certificates. We are using this grant to create videos that support students in passing assessments without lessons.

Below are the supplemental videos created by the Digital Zone to help CCD students improve their confidence and performance for certification. Students can take assessments up to two times a day, and there is no penalty for failing assessments.
