Tina Garcia is an alumna of Manual High School in Denver, Colorado, and holds the distinction of being a first-generation high school and college graduate. She earned her B.S. in Human Services from Metropolitan State College (now University) of Denver and an M.A. in Counseling Psychology and Counselor Education from the University of Colorado Denver. Currently, she is pursuing her doctoral studies at the University of Colorado Denver, focusing on Leadership for Educational Equity in Higher Education.
With a dedicated career spanning over 28 years, Tina has been committed to supporting marginalized individuals across various domains, including juvenile probation, mental health, addictions, and education. She joined the Community College of Denver in 2002 and has since held diverse roles within student services, such as Educational Case Manager, Academic Advisor, Program Coordinator, Program Director, Dean of Student Development and Retention, Dean of Enrollment Administration and Student Success, and Interim Vice President of Enrollment Administration and Student Success (twice).
Tina is passionate about serving and leading our community of learners, providing support to others, enhancing lives, promoting resilience, rebuilding systems for equity-minded practices, and witnessing the achievements of staff and learners.
Outside of her professional commitments, Tina enjoys spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and extended family. She expresses herself artistically through photography, painting, nail design, writing children’s books, and jewelry design.
