As Vice President of Human Resources at the Community College of Denver, Shana Stovall is a seasoned executive with over 20 years of experience leading people operations and driving organizational excellence. Her leadership philosophy—centered on “keeping the human in Human Resources”—guides her work to create an engaged, empowered, and high-performing workforce.
Shana’s career includes distinguished service as a Human Resources Professional in the United States Army, as a Department of Defense Civilian, and as a leader in higher education. She proudly retired from the U.S. Army Reserve in December 2022 after 21 years of active and reserve service, bringing with her a mission-driven approach and a deep commitment to operational discipline and team readiness.
At CCD, Shana has provided institution-wide leadership to promote operational excellence through initiatives focused on employee wellness, onboarding, professional development, training efficiency, and innovative programs that strengthen inter institutional collaboration with Auraria Campus partners. Her work has contributed to a healthier, more vibrant workplace culture, lower employee turnover, and measurable gains in employee satisfaction.
A proud Coloradan, first-generation college graduate from Denver, Shana earned a B.S. in Exercise Science from AMU and two M.S. degrees from Regis University—one in Project Leadership & Management and another in Human Resources Management.
Outside of work, Shana is a dedicated mother to her son, Kenny. She is an active volunteer in the community. She enjoys traveling and exploring the mountains, and is an accomplished competitive bodybuilder and avid reader.
Shana believes that most issues can be solved over a cup of coffee.
