Leena Bella Mayo is the head of marketing and communications and public information officer (PIO) at the Community College of Denver (CCD), where she serves as the college’s chief marketing, communications, and brand leader. In this role, she advances institutional visibility, enrollment-focused storytelling, and crisis communications, while leading integrated marketing, media relations, and digital engagement efforts that elevate student success and community impact.

Mayo partners closely with academic pathway leaders, senior administrators, and external partners across industry, government, and nonprofit sectors to align marketing and communications with CCD’s strategic priorities and student-centered mission.

Prior to joining CCD, Mayo served on senior leadership teams and as Vice President of Marketing & Communications for two global, award-winning university systems—Upper Iowa University and SEGi College (Hong Kong, Singapore, and Malaysia)—supporting more than 27,000 students. She also served as Corporate Vice President of Marketing & Communications for the EduK Group, providing executive leadership for a system of six higher education institutions serving more than 30,000 students across the U.S. and Puerto Rico.

In addition, Mayo has held senior marketing and leadership roles with industry-leading organizations including Apple, GE, Western Union, Berkshire Bank, and FMC, bringing deep experience in brand strategy, growth planning, and go-to-market execution across education, financial services, and technology sectors.

A writer, speaker, and strategic planning consultant, Mayo contributes to enterprise research initiatives, growth strategy development, and board service across multiple industries.

She holds an MBA from Regis University, a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Metropolitan State University of Denver, and is a FEMA-certified Public Information Officer.
