On Friday, September 26, CCD will proudly host its first-ever staff safety training event, making history as the first community college in the Colorado Community College System to launch a program of this kind. With more than 90 staff members registered, the event represents a campus-wide commitment to safety, preparedness, and resilience.
Throughout the day, participants will engage in interactive sessions and demonstrations led by a wide range of agencies, including the Auraria Campus Police Department (ACPD), Colorado State Patrol (CSP), Denver Police Department (DPD), Aurora Fire Department (AFD), the Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (DHSEM) Access and Functional Needs Department, the Health Center at Auraria, Regional Transportation District (RTD), Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), Denver Office of Emergency Management (DOEM), and the Red Cross.
Together, these partners will cover critical safety topics that go beyond the classroom. Staff will gain tools and confidence not only for responding to emergencies on campus, but also for traveling safely to and from work and strengthening preparedness in their homes and communities. This first-of-its-kind event blends education and engagement into a full day of learning, connection, and empowerment—building a stronger, safer future for everyone at CCD.
Faculty and staff event only.
