LGBTQ+ History Month was created by a Missouri public high school history teacher named Rodney Wilson, who, in 1994, came out to a class during a lecture about WWII to make a point. For reference (and a brief history lesson inside a history lesson), the Nazi party required gay prisoners in concentration camps to wear a pink triangle for identification purposes.

In every culture, we find an array of incredible, interesting, delicious foods. To gain more insight into Hispanic Heritage Month, Baby Swoop asked several students about foods they remember having growing up. Warning: do not read if hungry!

This social justice movement was brought to light by a student here at Community College of Denver whose father was heavily involved in the Chicano Movement and how he raised her to be a proud Chicana.

Faith Florez is a third-generation Mexican-American and descendant of farmworkers. After hearing about the hardships that her grandfather used to face working in the fields such as heatstroke, Florez created an app for farmworkers called ‘Calor: Heat Safety for Farms.’

The Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America-College Retirement Equities Fund (TIAA) and Community College of Denver (CCD) will be collaborating to host a 5k race on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2022, at 9 a.m. on CCD’s Auraria campus.

When we reflect on the importance of Black History Month, I am reminded of the beautiful kaleidoscope of cultures that make up this college. The difference in cultural backgrounds brings richness to the diversity of views to our community.

Pronouns are not inconsequential to me or many people within the LGBTQ+ community. My pronouns tell you that I do not live in the gender binary constructed by society.
