Expand your mind and enhance your life by learning another language at CCD! Learn how to engage in conversation, discuss opinions and ideas, and develop an understanding of cultures other than your own — including stereotypes and societal impact — all in another language. In addition to being helpful when traveling, learning more than one language increases your job opportunities.
An Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree from CCD can give you an excellent foundation in the world language of your choice. You can work toward the A.A. degree for your own personal enrichment, to enhance career opportunities, or use the credits you earn to transfer to a four-year college or university to continue toward a baccalaureate degree.
Our dynamic faculty are from all over the world: China, Spain, Cuba, and the United States, and give you a deeper understanding of the language and culture. Meet our faculty & connect with us!
The world languages department offers online tutoring in Spanish via Brainfuse in D2L. Tutoring is also available in our other languages. Please contact the department chair for details. Additionally, professional tutors are available by appointment through the Excel Zone.
CCD Online offers fully online certificates and degrees, and individual online courses to help match your busy schedule. The Spanish program offers 95 percent of its degree and the French program offers 100 percent of its degree either online or through a hybrid program.
Your first step is to see if online learning is right for you. Online and hybrid environments offer much more flexibility but require more self-direction and self-discipline. Certain work habits, learning styles and skills contribute to a successful online or hybrid learning experience.
