DENVER, Colo. (May 7, 2025) — Community College of Denver (CCD) proudly announces the launch of its Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) pathway, offering working LPNs an accessible and cost-effective route to advancing their nursing careers.
Approved by the Colorado Board of Nursing, this newly developed program is designed to meet the urgent demand for registered nurses across Colorado and the nation. It offers a streamlined and affordable degree completion option that maximizes credit transfer and reduces the total number of credits required, ultimately accelerating graduation and entry into the workforce.
"This program reflects CCD’s commitment to innovation, affordability, and workforce alignment,” said Dr. Marielena DeSanctis, President of Community College of Denver. "We are proud to offer the first LPN-to-BSN bridge program in the Colorado Community College System—enabling LPNs to advance their careers as Registered Nurses and future healthcare leaders. It's a powerful example of how CCD is building accessible, meaningful pathways that serve our students and communities."
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects 193,000 RN openings annually through 2032, driven by workforce turnover, retirements, and rising healthcare needs. CCD’s program responds directly to this gap—particularly for adult learners and working professionals who need flexible, attainable options to grow their careers without pausing them.
Program Highlights:
With the median annual wage for RNs reaching $93,600 in 2024, the transition from LPN to BSN represents professional advancement and a substantial economic opportunity for students and their families.
Enrollment is now open for CCD’s LPN-to-BSN program, which will begin classes in the fall 2025 semester. For more information or to apply, visit ccd.edu/program/lpn-bsn-bridge-program.
