At its inaugural Oxygen for Education Scholarship Breakfast, Community College of Denver (CCD) Foundation brought together more than 200 community leaders, college partners and CCD students for a powerful morning, building opportunities for CCD students to achieve academic success.

During the event, the college awarded its 2020 Elevation Award to the Gary Community Investment Company in recognition of their leadership with the WorkNow Partners.  The award was accepted by Tracey Stewart Gary Community Investments Director of Family Economic Security on behalf of the company and all the WorkNow Partners, many of whom were in attendance.

The Oxygen for Education event offered an inspiring look at the accomplishments of three of CCD’s students who spoke about finding their pathway to CCD and what scholarships have meant to them in their education journey. CCD students Joseph Foster, Hilary Alkire and Emanuel Walker shared their stories and encouraged donors to continue their support so that students like them can afford college. “I am grateful for each and every scholarship I received,” explained Foster. “Everybody here at the Community College of Denver has been so supportive of me that it just gives me strength to continue on.”

CCD Foundation Executive Director Leah Goss announced that the total amount raised was $64,000 including sponsorships, donations, and ticket sales, bringing the total raised by the event to $64,000.

The Foundation extends its thanks to all corporate sponsors, including Lido Advisors, ANB Bank & ANB Financial Services, Credit Union of Denver, East West Partners, Hord Coplan Macht, DEN, RK Foundation, and Associated General Contractors. In-kind sponsors included Snooze, an A.M. Eatery, The Moore Agency, Voodoo Doughnut, and the Chocolate Therapist.
