'Race Against Isms' 5k 2022

Running away from social justice issues isn’t something we should do as a society. Race Against Isms is running towards building awareness about ableism, racism, sexism, classism, and more that affect people on a global scale. This is a race we should want to win to grow as human beings.

The Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America-College Retirement Equities Fund (TIAA) and Community College of Denver (CCD) will be collaborating to host a 5k race on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2022, at 9 a.m. on CCD’s Auraria campus. Registration is free for all college staff and students. All participants will receive a moisture-wicking shirt along with their race packet.

In addition to running for a good cause, TIAA has created six $1,000 Race Against Isms scholarships for students that have displayed strength, leadership, and progress in the name of “isms” and/or social injustice in their community.

The following roads will be closed due to the race:

  • 7th Street closed between Walnut Street and Curtis Street
  • Curtis Street closed between 9th Street and 5th Street
  • 5th Street closed between Curtis Street and 8th Street
  • Walnut Street closed between 5th Street and 8th Street
  • 11th Street closed between the south side of the Library to Lawrence Way

We hope to see students, staff, and members of the community embrace this opportunity to shine a light on the social injustice of all the “isms.”
