The Displaced Aurarian Scholarship program is designed to provide remaining funds to cover tuition and fees, minus the College Opportunity Fund (COF) stipend, after grants and scholarships have been applied, for students who were residents of the Auraria neighborhood between 1955 and 1973. The program also extends to the descendants of these residents.
*Please Note: Submission of the Displaced Auraria Scholarship application does not guarantee a Displaced Aurarian Award at Community College of Denver. The Displaced Aurarian (DA) Scholarship will be awarded if the awarded student is enrolled, as measured by the Census Date (approximately 2 weeks after classes begin). Displaced Aurarian scholarship awards are made on a first-come, first-served basis and contingent upon availability of funding. Scholarship funding for the 2024-2025 academic year has been exhausted.

*Summer awards are not available.
The scholarship covers the remainder of on campus in-state tuition and standard fees for regular classes up to 18 credit hours per semester after grants and scholarships have been applied. Students are responsible for any balance resulting from out-of-state, online tuition, and high-cost course fee accrual differentials. The scholarship does not cover costs associated with ineligibility of the College Opportunity Fund (COF) stipend.
You must not be in default on any student loans or owe a balance to CCD, the State of Colorado, or the U.S. Department of Education.
The Financial Aid and Scholarship Department make all final award determinations. Scholarship awards are at the sole discretion of Community College of Denver. Scholarships are offered on a first-come-first-served basis and are dependent upon availability of funds each semester. Submission of this application does not guarantee a Displaced Aurarian Award at CCD. Receipt of a scholarship award does not guarantee any future awards.
Scholarship awards will be made after the Census Date, which is approximately two weeks after classes begin in the fall and the spring semester.

The annual awarding process is based solely on the availability of funds and the student’s academic progress. Receipt of a scholarship award does not guarantee any future awards.

The Displaced Aurarian scholarship will cover the courses that count toward a student’s program of study. If a student enrolls in a course that is not included in the college’s academic plan, the student is responsible for the tuition and fees for that course, even if otherwise eligible for the Displaced Aurarian scholarship.
Students taking online classes will only receive the equivalent of the cost of on-campus in-state tuition and fees, minus COF. Students are responsible for paying any remaining balance.
