Faculty, are you ready to take your digital storytelling activities to the next level?

If so, join the Excel! Zone for the next Digital Storytelling Advanced workshop. You will get more hands-on experience plus a certificate, upon completion of the training.

Digital Storytelling Advanced Training Competencies

(Faculty Certificate)

  • Attendee watched at least three example videos (student, staff or faculty made). Then, discussed what worked for them and why.
  • Attendees considered how digital literacy supports their curriculum.
  • Attendees learned about script formats, video planning documents, and necessary parameters to define their video projects.
  • Attendee created a spoken, audio or visual narration that provides a through line for their video.
  • Attendees successfully uploaded their narration into WeVideo.com.
  • Attendee optimized visuals and audio to add depth to the narration.
  • Attendee implemented MLA citation standards for digital sources.
  • Attendee successfully exported their video to YuJa in D2L’s Digital Storytelling course shell with at least one video, one audio track, and text on screen.
  • Attendees gave and received feedback from peers on their assignment development and course implementation.

  • 9:00 - 9:30 a.m. | Introductions and assignment progress check-in
  • 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. | Video production: visual and audio optimization
  • 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. | Work time
  • 11:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. | Lunch on your own
  • 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. | Work time and YuJa submissions (captions)
  • 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. | Screenings and next steps
