Día de los Muertos and Exquisite Corpse Virtual Exhibition

Join us in celebrating our Latinx community and the spooky holiday season

On October 29th, 2020, CCD’s student art gallery, the Dock Gallery, will be hosting a Día de Los Muertos exhibition featuring a virtual ofrenda, a guided walkthrough of the ofrenda written by Erin Farb from World Languages, and a selection of spooky exquisite corpses (a surrealist art game) created by CCD art students. You can view the exhibition on the Dock Gallery Webpage.

For this virtual ofrenda, we are reaching out to the CCD community at large and asking everyone to participate by creating their own sugar skull for a deceased loved one to be displayed on this virtual ofrenda. You can find templates for creating a 2D sugar skull and information on how to create and your own 3D sugar skull on the Dock Gallery webpage.

Please email your completed sugar skull to both the Dock Gallery director, Danielle Bell (danielle.bell@ccd.edu) and to the project manager, Jennifer Kelley (jkelley57@student.cccs.edu). We also encourage you to submit any photos you have of the deceased loved one to whom your sugar skull is dedicated to be added to the virtual ofrenda.

For this exhibition, we are trying to create a stronger, communal connection across the campus, especially during these trying times. With that, was also ask that if you and your family celebrate Día de los Muertos and have your own ofrenda, that you send in images of your family's ofrenda to be shared with the exhibition.
