Sandra J. Dawson
Professor Sandra (Sandy) Dawson teaches English and College Composition and Reading and enjoys looking for new ways and strategies to use in engaging students in the reading and writing process. She started working for CCD in 1988 as an adjunct and became a full-time faculty member in 1991. In addition to teaching, she was also a program chair for several years. Prior to joining CCD, Sandy taught English at the University of Colorado – Denver and also taught GED preparation at the Adult learning Source.
Sandy has a passion for travel. She grew up in a small town in Michigan but has since visited 50 states in the U.S. plus most countries in Europe, as well as Egypt, Australia, the Cayman Islands, Tahiti, Mexico, the Bahamas, Central America, and other islands in the Pacific. She also lived in Germany for three years and can speak German and a little French. Any free time is used to scout out maps for new places to explore. A dog lover (see pictures in her office) and a lover of books, Sandy can be found most days walking her dogs and reading.
