“Thanks to the Reisher Scholarship, I have had the privilege of being the first in my family to attend college. I recently graduated with my Associate of Science degree from Community College of Denver and I am currently attending Metropolitan State University of Denver in order to finish my bachelor’s degree. This scholarship will help me to pay for the cost of the two years I have left to earn my bachelor’s degree. Growing up in a less privileged community has not only had financial and academic challenges but has also helped me realize the value of a college education. With the Reisher Scholarship, I am excited to be able to significantly move closer to my goal of becoming the first in my family to not only graduate from high school but also graduate with a postsecondary education. I’m very thankful for the generosity, support, and for the opportunity that Reisher has provided. Without this scholarship, my educational pursuits would not be possible.” ~ Kimberly Valdez, Transfer Student

Scholarships are financial awards given to students based on different criteria; whether that is your financial need, academic merit, athletic performance or so many other categories. Scholarships are funds that generally do not need to be paid back as long as you are successful in your courses.
Scholarships can be renewed each semester, on a yearly basis or can be one-time payments.
These funds can be used for anything related to your education but sometimes a donor has specific requirements. For example, a scholarship donor may say that you are required to use the funds specifically for tuition and fees, or maybe for room and board only.
Every scholarship will be different, so it’s important that you read the terms when you are awarded to make sure that you are meeting the requirements to keep your award.
