The Denver Education Attainment Network (DEAN) DREAMer Support Action Team brings together direct service providers who work with undocumented students to help them enroll, persist and complete college. The Action Team has created this guide as a resource for undocumented students interested in or currently attending the Auraria Campus in Denver, CO. For more information visit

Helpful Scholarship Tips - Community Service

Participating in community service activities can be highly beneficial in more ways than one. Not only does it look good on all applications but there are other perk as well. Community service instills a sense of purpose and can also give your life some direction.

  • Gain work and life experience - Activities related to future career goals can help you jump the competition and gain real world experience. It can help improve skill sets and help prepare you for actual work experiences.
  • Building Connections - People that you meet while volunteering will grow your professional circle. These people will be the ones that help you write letters of recommendation for jobs and scholarships.
  • A Larger Worldview - Meeting a variety of people can help you learn a multitude of new things. This exposure can help shape the direction of your life and the way you view the world around you.
