What better way to spend your time this summer than to enjoy the great outdoors? If you’re like me and love camping but dread the cost of buying all the expensive supplies, well I have good news for you.
The Outdoor Adventure Center (OAC), located in the Physical Education Recreation (PER) Event Center’s basement under the gym (room 002), offers affordable daily, weekend and weekly rentals of high quality outdoor gear. They have all the necessities to go camping, rock climbing, canoeing and hiking.
All you have to do is fill out a rental agreement and bring your student ID. The rental shop is student fee supported and accepts cash, check or any major credit card and is on a first come, first serve basis.
It also offers an outdoor education and leadership program called Outdoor Pursuits which provides outings and instructional activities for students, faculty and staff. They arrange hiking, rock and ice climbing, camping and skiing trips throughout the year.
Here is one CCD student’s experience, “For the first-time rock climber and not much of an outdoor person, this trip blew me away. We really got down and dirty with the activities. I initially thought the trip consisted of tourist hikes on paved trails. I was wrong!"
The OAC provides students with a place to meet one another and share their passion for the outdoors, work on bikes as well as offers a quiet place to study. If you are interested or have any questions you can contact OAC at 303.556.2391, Monday – Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
So what are you waiting for? Get out there and enjoy your summer by taking advantage of this exciting benefit our school has to offer. With prices like these it makes it easy and affordable for students to be able to rent equipment for all our adventure needs. I don’t know about you, but I am already planning a camping trip for my family this summer and I can’t wait!
