Study Abroad in China with the Confucius Institute Scholarship!

For the purpose of cultivating qualified Chinese–language teachers and promoting Chinese culture, the Confucius Institute Headquarters at Hanban offers a great opportunity for excellent students, scholars, and Chinese language teachers to study at universities in China.

Application Procedure

All applicants must be recommended by the Confucius Institute at CCD. Our office will work with you to complete the online application and submit a recommendation on your behalf. Please first contact them at 303.352.6510 before you complete the online application, as you will not be able to complete the application without their assistance.

Starting March 1, 2018, you may submit an online application by the deadlines listed below. Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) will centralize the application review process. The process is based on merit funding and will be completed two months prior to the admission date. The results will be published on the scholarship website. Be sure to keep a close watch on the application approval process, review approval comments and final results. Scholarship recipients must confirm with the host institutes about the admission procedure and print out the scholarship certificates from the website, register on time according to the requirements in order to enjoy the scholarship benefits.

Applicant Requirements

  • Non-Chinese citizen
  • In good health condition and excellent in character and academic performance
  • Dedicated to working on Chinese language education, teaching, and international promotion of Chinese language
  • 18-35 years old (by September 1, 2018) - Applicants who are currently working in Chinese language teaching positions shall not exceed the age limit of 45. Undergraduate students (four–year programs) shall not exceed the age of 25.

Scholarship Coverage

The scholarship covers tuition fees, accommodation fees, monthly living allowance (except four-weeks students) and comprehensive insurance for foreign students studying in China.

  • The amount of living allowance is 2500 yuan per month for undergraduate students, one academic year students, and one semester students.
  • For Master in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, it is 3000 yuan per month.

Accepted students should register on time according to the admission notice, otherwise, the scholarship will be canceled. Students who register on or before September 15th will receive the whole month living allowance, and students who register after September 15th will receive half of the monthly living allowance.
