CCD has inter-institutional agreements in place with Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver), the University of Colorado Denver (CU Denver), and Colorado School of Mines (CSM). Through the Inter-Institutional program, students will get the opportunity to take courses at other host institutions.

  • As a CCD student, you can take select courses at these institutions if space is available (subject to approval, online courses may be taken at MSU Denver only).
  • MSU Denver, CU Denver, or CSM students can take select courses at CCD if space is available. If you are not a CCD student, you must obtain instructions, forms, and deadlines from your home institution. (Note: Remedial and extended campus courses are not part of this agreement and cannot be taken through this program.)
  • CSM students interested in taking an elective course not offered at CSM must obtain instructions, forms, and deadlines from your home institution.

  • To take classes at another institution, you must meet course prerequisites, including assessment testing.
  • The courses you take at the host institutions in no way alter existing degree requirements but may apply toward degree requirements, subject to approval by the home institution.
  • Please confer with your program chair and/or coordinator and academic advisor before submitting the Inter-Institutional application.
  • It is the student's responsibility to confirm that desired courses will satisfy their degree requirements at CCD (home institution). There is also a limit to the number of credits that can be transferred.
  • If you participate in the inter-institutional program, you are responsible for following the procedures and deadlines set by both home and host institutions. Late applications will not be processed after the deadline. No exceptions.
  • You may only receive financial aid from your home institution.

Inter-Institutional Deadline for MSU Denver & CU Denver Students

  • Summer 2024 Application: Friday, May 17th, 2024
  • Fall 2024 Application: Friday, August 9th, 2024

MSU Denver, CU Denver, and CSM have an inter-institutional agreement allowing CCD students to take select courses at these host institutions if space is available.

CCD students' tuition for all classes will be paid at CCD (home institution). CCD students have the advantage of paying a lower tuition rate for courses offered by MSU Denver, CU Denver, or CSM. However, the program fees for selected courses at the host institution will not be covered under the Inter-Institutional program and will be the student's financial responsibility. If program fees are due, an email from the host institution will be sent to the CCD student. In addition, CU Denver and CSM online classes are also not covered under this agreement; however, subject-to-approval online courses may be taken at MSU Denver. Lastly, off-campus or extended-campus courses are not covered under this agreement at any of the host institutions.

The following steps will guide you through the application process. Please plan accordingly and allow 3-5 business days for your application to be processed.

Step 1: Meet with your CCD Academic Advisor for course review before submitting the Inter-Institutional Program Application. Selected courses must apply to your degree/certificate at CCD.

Step 2: Register for CCD(s) according to the registration dates at CCD. You must first be enrolled and a degree-seeking student at CCD to participate in the Inter-Institutional program.

Step 3: Submit your Inter-Institutional Program Application for final approval.

  • CCD students may not be waitlisted for any MSU Denver or CU Denver classes that are full.
  • The number of credits taken at the host institution must be equal to or less than the number of credits taken at CCD (home institution).
  • There may be a limit to the number of courses you are able to enroll in at the host institution. Verify enrollment limits at the host institution.
  • If CU Denver is the host institution, CCD Students may not be enrolled in 3000 or 4000-level courses or online courses.
  • If MSU Denver is the host institution, 3000/300 or 4000/400 level courses and online courses may be allowed on a case-by-case basis.
  • CStudents can take select courses at these institutions if space is available (subject to approval, online courses may be taken at MSU Denver only).

Step 4: The host institution will notify the student and the Office of Registration and Records at CCD via e-mail once the Inter-Institutional application is approved and processed (you must check both your CCD e-mail and host student e-mail accounts for notification).

  • MSU Denver will email you the registration details. Students must follow the instructions from MSU Denver to successfully register for their Inter-Institutional course(s). Students should register themselves if they are planning to attend this host institution. In addition, the tuition fees for all classes will be paid at CCD, except for any program fees that may be required. Students will receive an email or mail correspondence if program fees are due.
  • CU Denver will email students their registration details.  CU Denver will register the students. Students should not register themselves if they are planning to attend this host institution.
  • The Office of Registration & Records at CCD will review your application once it is approved by the host institution and e-mail the student. This process must be completed by the established Inter-Institutional application deadline highlighted above. No exceptions to the established deadlines will be made.

Step 5: Tuition will be assessed at CCD and must be paid by the payment deadline. Depending on the course(s) you register for at your host institution, you may be assessed host additional course fees. Verify your fees at the host institution. If you registered for non-approved courses, you would be financially responsible for the tuition fee.

Step 6: Inter-institutional courses may be considered transferable course(s) at the host institution; please make sure that you do not go over your limit of transfer credits. You must verify the transferable course(s) with an advisor at the host institution.

You can review all important dates and upcoming deadlines on the CCD Academic Calendar. Lastly, please inform both your home and host institutions if your class schedule changes or if you make any changes to your enrollment status.

CCD and Colorado School of Mines (CSM) have an inter-institutional agreement. CCD students who are registered for six credit hours or more at CCD may apply to register for EPIC 151, Engineering Design I, at CSM during the same term. This registration is intended to allow prospective CSM transfer students to be integrated into the CSM community in advance of their formal transfer from CCD to CSM.

As part of the CSM inter-institutional program, CCD students must meet the following requirements: be degree-seeking, registered for six or more credit hours at CCD, and must be co-enrolled in MAT 201 or have completed MAT 201.

CSM students interested in taking one elective course not offered at CSM must obtain instructions and deadlines from their home institution. All students are required to meet course prerequisites, which include assessment testing. CSM students can register for online and off-campus courses.

The courses you take at the host institution in no way alter existing degree requirements but may apply toward degree requirements, subject to approval by the home institution. Please confer with your program chairs and academic advisors before registering inter-institutionally. You should also confirm before enrolling that desired courses will satisfy degree requirements at the home institution.

You may only receive financial aid from your home institution.

For MSU Denver, CU Denver, and CSM students, the tuition for all classes will be paid at their home institution. Students will have access to a diverse selection of electives and courses that may not be available at their home institution and can take selected courses at CCD if space is available.

STEP 1: Complete an inter-institutional application from MSU Denver, CSM, or CU Denver (home institution).

STEP 2: Your home institution Registrar will process and email CCD your application once approved.

STEP 3: If approved, your Registrar will send us your approved application and send you instructions on how to apply at CCD and register for the course(s).

STEP 4.  CCD will review the application and the registered course and approve it if appropriate.

Once approved by your home institution, if you have any holds from CCD that block you from getting registered, you must submit your unofficial college transcript in a timely manner to CCD to override any prerequisites. (Note: Remedial and extended campus courses are not part of this agreement and cannot be taken through this program.) If you have inquiries regarding the Inter-Institutional procedure, please contact your home institution's registrar's office.
