Steps to Enrollment

Please note:

  • Make sure to identify your correct VISA Type within the application.
  • You must choose the degree type you are pursuing. It must be a two-year associate degree program. You cannot be undeclared or choose a certificate. You will have the choice to change it later after the application has been processed.

Application Deadlines

Below are the application deadlines for students requesting a first-time I-20 while outside of the U.S. Transfer student applications are accepted until one week before the semester starts.

Since Community College Denver is an open enrollment institution, you will receive an acceptance letter through your email. However, international student acceptance is contingent on receiving the required documents, as stated below. A representative will contact you within 3-5 business days of submitting your International Application.

Once the application is complete, all documents must be submitted by the deadline for an admissions decision. Be sure to include the pieces listed here. Please email clear copies of your documents to International@ccd.edu.

Application Fee
  • A $75 non-refundable processing fee must be submitted to the Cashier's Office.  This charge will be placed on your account after we receive all other application materials. You may pay it by logging into your CCDConnect account on the CCD homepage.  
Official Transcripts
  • If you took college courses in your home country, official, translated, and evaluated college transcripts must be provided if you wish to have credits transferred.
Financial Support

You must provide a United States or international bank statement showing that your parents or sponsors have a minimum of $35,132.00 U.S. dollars, which covers a nine-month academic year’s tuition, books, insurance, and living expenses. If you can provide proof that you will be living with a family member and will not need to pay for housing, we will accept a minimum of $27,797.00 U.S. dollars in an account. Some acceptable forms of statements include:

  • Personal funds – a recent bank letter or statement
  • Funds from family or sponsor – A recent bank letter along with an affidavit of support containing both the student’s and sponsor’s name, relationship, and amount of funds available for the applicant’s studies. 
  • Government or other sponsoring agency – a signed copy of the scholarship or award letter stating the amount, name of recipient, and duration of the award.

Examples of financial documents that will not be accepted include:

  • Annual salary statements, pay stubs, credit card statements
  • Real estate
  • Investments, stocks, insurance policies, or other accounts where money cannot be withdrawn. 
Evidence of Proficiency in the English Language

You must submit one of the following:

  • A minimum score of 477 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or 57 on the internet-based test (official TOEFL score report may be sent directly to CCD by indicating the Institution Code 4137 when taking the exam). 

  • An official International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 5.5 or higher.
  • An official Duolingo English Test score of 90 or higher.
  • Successful completion of an intensive program of English as a Second Language at an approved institution.
  • Proof of passing an equivalent college-level English course in the U.S.

Other Required Documentation

Depending on your status upon applying to CCD, you may be asked to provide these documents before or after final acceptance: valid identification (Visa, Passport, I-94), proof of health insurance, a copy of current I-20, and/or other documents to maintain your F-1 status at CCD.

Health Insurance

Make sure that your health and any accidents are covered by purchasing health insurance. Health insurance is required for all international students. You are required to have health insurance coverage before the first day of classes. If you have not already, please email a copy of your insurance card.

The Course Placement Test ($15)

  • Take the placement test to assess your current academic skill level.
  • Testing is not required; however, it is encouraged if you would like to take math without the lab component or if you would like to place in higher-level courses.
  • Your academic advisor can assist you with test preparation.

Transferring U.S. College Credits

  • Only official (sealed, unopened) transcripts will be accepted.

  • You will be alerted by email when your credits have been entered.

Transferring Non-U.S. College Credits

  • Foreign university transcripts must be translated and evaluated by an approved NACES provider such as SpanTran
  • Because of differences in educational systems, please be aware that many credits may not transfer to  CCD. For more information regarding transferring credits, contact David Samuelson.

CCDConnect Overview

Your student email account is the official means of communication between you and the College. At least once a week, you should sign in to CCDConnect to view your registration and check your email.

Class Registration

Your advisor will assist you in finding the correct major, review your testing scores, and help you find the right classes for your degree plan.

Pay Tuition & Fees

If you miss the payment deadline, you may be dropped from all classes, and your original classes may no longer be available.

Self/Private Sponsored Students

You are responsible for paying by the payment deadline each semester. To avoid your classes from being dropped for non-payment, please make sure that you do not have any pending balances. 

Government Sponsored Students

Your classes may be dropped if CCD has not received your final financial guarantee (FG) before the payment deadline. Your government may request additional documentation from you to obtain a final financial guarantee. Please contact your sponsor and advise CCD on the status of your final FG.

Payment Plan Options

Nelnet Business Solutions (NBS) Tuition Management

To help you meet all of your educational expenses, CCD offers a payment option using the Nelnet Business Solutions (NBS). NBS is a tuition management plan that provides a no-interest method for paying college expenses.

  • Automatic payments may be made from a checking or savings account or a MasterCard or VISA credit card.
  • The only cost for using the system is a $35 per semester nonrefundable enrollment fee.
  • Take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the payment plan. This plan is a helpful way to cover your expenses for the year.

To enroll, connect to the student portal and follow the online enrollment process. Be sure to complete your name, address, budgeted amount, the method of payment, and the payment schedule. A confirmation return email will verify your enrollment.

  • Login to CCD Connect with your student ID number and password
  • Click on the 'Financial Aid and Payments' tab
  • Under 'Tuition and Payment Options,' click on 'Payment Options', then 'Create and Manage My Payment Plan.'
  • Click on 'NBS Payment Plan'

Please Note
  • Please notify the Cashier’s Office immediately of any changes (i.e., changes via add/drop to your class schedule)
  • To affect any payment dates, a school must receive changes no later than three (3) business days before the payment date.
  • If your balance is paid in full directly to your CCD, please notify the Cashier's Office immediately to terminate your payment plan to prevent any extra return payment fees.
