Important Dates

  • January 23:  Placement Test -LAST CHANCE TO SUBMIT Sunday, January 23 11:59 p.m.
  • January 25:  Submit Student Information Form/Select your Class Schedule
  • January 31-February 4:  Orientation Class (Required)
  • February 7-11:  First Regular Session Class  
  • February 11:  Class Payment Due (no refunds after this date)
  • May 7:  Last Day of Spring Term

NOTE: Please complete this sign-up form ONE time. We will email the link to our Student Information Form and class options after you complete your placement test. Not all class times are available for all levels.

Personal Information
You must be 17 years of age or older to participate in our Community ESL (C-ESL) program. C-ESL classes are not available to students who qualify for CCD Academic ESL classes. C-ESL classes are reserved for pre-college ESL students.CCD English as a Second Language (ESL) classes are for individuals who did not learn English as a child. If you grew up speaking English, please visit to learn about college English classes.
Core skills include Grammar, Pronunciation, Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening: Fall Terms start September (12 weeks), Spring Terms start January (12 weeks), Summer Terms start May (10 weeks). English Intensives for college and careers in healthcare or manufacturing are available to high intermediate and advanced students. Intensives prepare students to start college or earn a certificate the next term. Your placement test score determines eligibility. Manufacturing is for a certificate in Welding, Machining, or Mechanical Design; Nurse Aide is to qualify for CNA classes and certification.

How did you learn about CCD Community ESL?
Classes start January (Spring), May (Summer), and September (Fall). Late start classes start February, March, October. Scholarships are reserved for students who have financial need. A Community ESL scholarship request is required. Please select a payment option below or contact us for more information. Payment is non-refundable after the first week of class. Classes are typically 2 days each week (Saturday classes are once a week). Special topics include Saturday intensives for reading, writing, speaking and listening, and computer skills. Pre-certificate classes are available for Nurse Aide and Manufacturing. If you want more than one class, please select from options below. You can change your selection after you take your placement test and view available classes for your level.
