Program of Study

Anthropology is the study of humankind everywhere throughout time, emphasizing the importance of culture. Anthropology is the “science of humanity,” or the study of humankind — past and present — building upon knowledge from social and biological sciences, humanities, and natural sciences.

In this program, you’ll learn about the human animal, where we come from, the places we live, and the differences and variations in our species from our beginnings in Africa to our current state of civilization. Learn about cultures — past and present — and look into the reasons for conflict, violence, religion, beliefs, and so much more about what makes us unique on Earth.

What Can I Do with My Major?

An A.A. degree with a behavioral science emphasis prepares you for a variety of jobs. Positions as professional anthropologists, psychologists or sociologists generally require a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and usually a graduate degree in that specific field.
