Steps to Successful Enrollment

Thank you for your interest in the Medical Assistant program. Please follow the instructions below to submit your application with any accompanying forms.

Program Instructions

If you haven’t done so yet, you must be a current CCD student to enroll in the Medical Assistant program. The CCD application is free. Please select Medical Assisting AAS or certificate when applying.

Essay

You will be required to write a 500-word essay (single-spaced) addressing both of the following topics: 

  1. In what ways do you see yourself as a good fit for the Medical Assistant program?
  2. What are two recent changes in the US healthcare system that could affect Medical Assistants?

Self-assessment is not accepted.  You have several options to determine your placement in this program, and we must have both English and math competency levels. Review the options you have to determine your course placement by visiting the Testing Center and reading the information on how to submit these documents on that webpage link. You can use ACT/SAT scores (taken within the past five years), Accuplacer exams for math and English, or official transcripts showing previous college-level math and English classes. You will also have the opportunity to upload a copy of your unofficial transcript into the application.

You can also meet with a Health Science Advisor to ensure you are College Ready in Math and English.

Follow the curriculum course map to identify the four first semester classes. All classes need to be taken in the first semester of the program.

The program chair and other departments will communicate with you providing important information regarding onboarding and participation in the MA Program.

Program Orientation will take place approximately one week prior to the start of classes.
