Math Zone

At the EXCEL Math Zone, we strive to help you succeed in all math courses. We provide multiple formats of support, from walk-in tutoring to 24/7 online tutoring to group study areas to targeted study sessions before the next big exam. In our walk-in zone, you’ll find friendly tutors to help with your questions during 15-20 minute sessions.

Clarify and comprehend concepts and processes for general math, algebra, calculus, trigonometry, physics, or MyMathLab. We have computers as well as large tables, which allow for group help and one-on-one support. Or you can choose to work independently, knowing that a tutor is just a raised-hand away if you get stuck. We also host topic-based mini-seminars throughout the semester, ranging from using your calculator to factoring to the unit circle.

Whatever your math need, we hope to see you in the EXCEL Math Zone soon.

Writing Zone

At the Writing Zone, CCD students received help on all stages of writing assignments, scholarship essays, job application materials, and more. Students can come in for walk-in sessions of up to 30 minutes, twice a day on any assignment. From brainstorming to posting on D2L, we are here to support you!

ESL Zone

The ESL tutoring lab at CCD functions as a bridge between our many international students and the college itself. Tutors have been trained to work with ESL students specifically, and a majority of them have had classroom experience in teaching to this population’s needs.

During 30-minute sessions, you will generally find the tutors to be very helpful in encouraging and ultimately pushing you to the next level. The CCD tutors are experienced in working on basic grammar needs and pronunciation skills, developing advanced essays and doing research-based projects. We are open as a drop-in center that hosts 20-minute, one-on-one, sessions with anyone with an ESL background, even if they did not complete a single ESL class while attending CCD.

Besides tutoring, we also have computers available for you to work on, with or without the guidance of a tutor, a lending library where you can check out appropriately leveled books in English, and a space for you to come together to complete group work.
