Blending architectural design with hands-on construction learning allows both experienced individuals and those new to the industry the ability to advance their skills and grow their perspectives.

See how we can help you build a better future today.

What skills will I learn in the basic certificate?

This certificate prepares you with a well-rounded combination of conceptual and manual skills centered around light-frame construction materials and methods to enable competitive employment as a skilled construction field worker.

What skills will I learn in the advanced certificate?

This certificate is intended to build on the coursework and field experience acquired through the completion of the basic building crafts certificate. The advanced certificate develops skills in digital construction documentation, building code principles, and connects classroom design and documentation training with relevant field experience.

Are there course/learning prerequisites?

Students entering the building crafts program must determine their English and math course placement levels. CCD provides several options to determine your course placement, detailed at CCD.edu/CoursePlacement.

Prior to registering, you will meet with the program coordinator and chair to design an education plan to help you succeed in the program.

Can I test out of skills/courses in the certificate if I have industry experience?

Yes, Prior Learning Assessments (PLAs) for individuals with industry experience are available so you can demonstrate skills that allow you to test out of modules or entire classes. For additional information, please contact Mark Broyles.
