Associate of Science (AS) Degree

The Associate of Science degree can be specifically designed for those who plan to transfer to a four-year college or university and allows you to focus transfer credits on science related subjects.

Our Associate of Science degree fulfills general education core requirements such as written and oral communication, math, science, arts and humanities, as well as social and behavioral science courses. The remaining credit hours required for the degree can be focused solely on science and/or math.

The Recommended Advising Academic Plans on the previous tab are semester-by-semester, sequenced plans, designed as a best practices guide for completion of program requirements based on a full-time student schedule, focused on keeping you on track for completion, graduation, and/or transfer.

This recommended plan keeps prerequisites and course offerings in mind, and is a thoughtful tool for current and perspective students to use to design a map for completion, in collaboration with your assigned Advisor. Through careful planning with an Advisor, you can work to graduate on time, potentially reducing your tuition costs and use of loans, thereby accelerating your entry into the job market or advanced education, compared to students who take more time to complete requirements and graduate. (For AA, AS, or AAS degrees, the “time needed to graduate” refers to a timeline of two years.)

We encourage students to work collaboratively with your assigned Academic Advisor to make strategic and informed decisions about which courses to take each semester. This is a best practices, advising recommendation knowing that you need to individualize your path towards degree and certificate completion based on many factors.

Note: These plans were last updated July 2016. They are subject to change. Please refer to the CCD Catalog or connect with your Academic Advisor.
