• Occasionally, information sessions need to be canceled due to unforeseen circumstances. If this occurs, a notification will be posted as soon as it is available.
• If you are unable to attend one of these sessions, please make an appointment for an individual meeting with Fida Obeidi, program coordinator.
• Don't forget: Students in these categories (RN, LPN, RPT, prior bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree) are not eligible and are encouraged to apply directly to other BSN accredited schools, accelerated or second-degree programs. Please contact Fida Obeidi with questions about this.
• INP information sessions will be conducted online.
• Please plan to attend the entire one-hour session.
• If you enter the meeting late, mute your feed until the end of the session when the question time opens up.

You must have official transcripts from all previous educational experiences outside of high school (colleges, universities, etc.) sent to the Office of Registration & Records before applying to the INP program (see Step 5). Please note: This program is intended for Colorado residents who complete the majority of their prerequisites in the Colorado Community College System.

Students accepted into the INP program will have the option to choose the Associate of General Studies Degree (A.G.S.) or the Associate of Science degree (A.S.). Those choosing the A.S. degree must take one Oral Communication class, COM 1150, 1250 or 2220. Students who do not take one of these classes will receive an A.G.S. degree.

You must complete all nine required prerequisites courses by the end of the spring semester in the year you are applying to the program.

*If taking an art class, it must be a non-performance class. Philosophy courses do not meet this prerequisite requirement.

About the Prerequisites

• The integrated nursing pathway program’s prerequisites are different than other baccalaureate and associate degree programs.
• Please do not take Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Microbiology, English Composition 2, and Human Growth and Development courses until you have been admitted to the INP program.
• Students may take most prerequisites in any order.
• Please note: CU College of Nursing will only accept AP credit for the following classes: Statistics, Psychology, English Language and Composition and for Art/HUM: English Literature & Composition, Art History, Music Theory, and Theater. AP Calculus (AB and BC) will count as College Algebra, but not as Calculus. Scores must be 4 or higher for all courses, except for English Language and Composition, which can be a score of 3 or higher.
• CU College of Nursing will only take IB credit for the following classes: Mathematics (SL or HL) for College Algebra only; Psychology, English A Language and Literature (SL or HL); and for Art/Hum: Visual Arts (SL or HL), Music (SL or HL), and Theater (SL or HL). Scores must be at 5 to count towards prerequisite credit transfer.
• CU College of Nursing will only take CLEP scores for Algebra (College Algebra, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus all will count as College Algebra), Psychology, Sociology, and College Composition and College Composition Modular and for Art/Hum: Humanities: American Literature, Analyzing and Interpreting Literature and English Literature. Scores must be 54 or higher for all courses, except for College Composition and College Composition Modular which can be 50 or higher.
• CCD will transfer in credit for all AP, IB, and CLEP credits, but CU College of Nursing will only accept the above scores/classes for INP prerequisites. If you took AP or IB Biology or Chemistry, since there is no lab credit, you will still need to take these classes to fulfill the INP prerequisites for General Biology and General Chemistry.

Points to Consider

• Take Algebra before Biology.
• We strongly encourage you to take the science classes with labs in the classroom.
• Give careful consideration to taking intense or heavy credit hour classes, such as the sciences, in the summer semester; these classes are shorter and taught in a compressed format.
• A minimum 3.0 prerequisite GPA or higher is required. This GPA includes the highest grade attempts for courses included on transcripts at the time of application. Suggested cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher based on all previous course attempts.
• Prerequisites that were completed more than 10 years ago are not accepted.

As you near completion of the prerequisite courses listed above, please attend an INP information session or contact Voletha Bradley, the program coordinator, for an appointment.

We will be using the NursingCAS website for the INP program application.

• The application begins January 1 and ends April 15th of this year.
• The deadline for all application materials to be received by NursingCAS is May 1 this year, for a fall start date in the year of application.
• To apply, you must have a prerequisite GPA of 3.0 or higher and you must have completed all 9 of the initial prerequisites for the program by the end of the spring semester in the year in which you are applying.

Make sure that you apply to the University of Colorado Anschutz (not the University of Colorado - Denver). Then scroll down and find the Integrated Nursing Pathway. There is an application fee of $60. You will also need to send a copy of all college transcripts to NursingCAS, as well as CCD. 

You will need to submit a resume and two references (names and email addresses) for contact by NursingCAS, one of which needs to be an academic reference. You also need to request a letter of reference from each of your references which they will upload into the email that they receive from NursingCAS. You will also need to submit a 500-word essay written in your own words, which addresses all three of the following prompts: 1) Describe your perceptions and attitude about nursing today. In your answer, identify current information about the field of nursing, including the commitments, expectations and career options; 2) What do you believe are the demands of nursing education and how have you prepared to make this significant change to your current situation; 3) Describe an experience or encounter that illustrates what you would bring to the INP program in terms of diversity and inclusion.

TOEFL and IELTS scores must be sent to CU College of Nursing when you register for these tests. AP, IB and CLEP scores only need to be sent to CCD and CU if they are not listed on a college transcript.

Transcripts

You must have official transcripts from all previous collegiate or other post-high school educational experiences such as trade schools, cosmetology schools, etc. sent to CCD for review, even if the classes are over 10-years old. The deadline for your materials to be received by the admissions department is March 31st. Allow for six to eight (6-8) weeks for documents to be processed. You will also need to send a copy of your transcripts to NursingCAS as part of the application process.

Language Proficiency Requirement

Excellent oral and written English communication skills are necessary prerequisites for admission to the University of Colorado (CU) College of Nursing. Applicants for the integrated nursing pathway program will be contacted during the application process if proof of language proficiency is required. The deadline to submit passing scores to the CU College of Nursing is the end of the first full week in April each year.

If your primary language is not English, or if you are an International Student, you will need to demonstrate the required English language proficiency by meeting one of the following criteria:

• You are a citizen of a country whose official language is English, including Australia, Belize, Botswana, Canada (except Quebec), Commonwealth Caribbean, Ghana, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Kenya, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa or Zimbabwe.
• You have obtained a total score of at least 560 on the paper-based TOEFL and 50 or above on the Test of Spoken English (TSE); a score of 83 on the Internet-based TOEFL with a speaking score of 26. TOEFL code number for the University of Colorado is 3377. Be sure to use this code when registering for the exam to ensure that CU will receive the results.
• You have obtained a total score of 6.5 (speaking score of 8 or higher) on the IELTS exam. IELTS code 4875 for the University of Colorado. For more information visit: www.BridgeEnglish.com.
• You have graduated from the University of Colorado-Denver's ESL Academy.
• You have graduated from a US/UK accredited school abroad with English as the medium of instruction.
• You have earned a bachelor's degree in the U.S. or you have completed a minimum of two semesters of full-time study in a master's program at an accredited institution in the U.S.
