The Cannabis Science and Operations BAS degree provides a comprehensive, robust curriculum that equips graduates with the necessary skills and knowledge to gain employment in the emerging cannabis fields through diverse coursework and practical experience. 

The Cannabis Science and Operations Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) program (a total of 120 credit hours) offers a flexible upper level 60-credit hour degree designed specifically for students who have earned an associate degree from a regionally accredited institution in related areas. 

Combing a mix of core chemistry and biology curriculum with applied cannabis-related courses this program offers graduates over 400 hours of hands-on experience in state-of-the-art instrumentation labs.

Graduates will be able to:

  • Apply chemistry and microbiological concepts to implement quantitative analysis of cannabis-related products and contaminants. 
  • Apply safe practices in cannabis-related laboratories and industrial facilities. 
  • Develop techniques in cannabis cultivation, extraction, and separation. 
  • Apply statistical data analytics and research methodologies to draw conclusions, and debate topics related to cannabis legalization, usage, benefits, effects, and social equity. 
  • Communicate ideas effectively to a defined audience utilizing tips for effective visual and oral presentation. 
  • Enhance their employability skills and build a record of work and hands-on experience.

Available Online

CCD Online offers fully online certificates and degrees, and individual online courses to help match your busy schedule. This program offers approximately 20 percent of its degree either online or through a hybrid program. 

Your first step is to see if online learning is right for you. Online and hybrid environments offer much more flexibility but require more self-direction and self-discipline. Certain work habits, learning styles, and skills contribute to a successful online or hybrid learning experience.

Internships & Service Learning Opportunities

Part of the Cannabis Science BAS program is an internship that provides students with the opportunity to supplement coursework with practical work experience related to their educational program.  

Job Outlook & Salary Information

Thirty-four states have legalized the medicinal use of cannabis, eleven of which have legalized adult, recreational use. As of the 2019 Cannabis Jobs Count, legal cannabis has created 211,000 full-time jobs in the United States of America, 64,000 of which were added in 2018. 

Increasing the legitimacy and legality of medicinal plants nationwide and in Colorado has created a great demand for qualified technical personnel.
