- Provide dental hygiene education that meets professional standards established by the American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation.
- Educate students to practice to the full extent of the Dental Practice Law of Colorado.
- Integrate basic, social, and dental hygiene sciences into the practice of dental hygiene.
- Practice clinical dental hygiene in a variety of health care settings with traditional and non-traditional (special needs) client populations, promoting access to care for under-served populations.
- Practice dental hygiene using the dental hygiene care model securing the appropriate consultations and necessary referrals.
- Promote professional development of the student through participation and activities in external rotations, SADHA, and community dental health projects.
- Demonstrate professional conduct and attitude.
- Apply dental health education and promote knowledge and skills in advancing the health of the public
- Apply interpersonal skills in interactions with clients, the public, and other health care professionals.
- Commitment to personal growth and professional development through life-long learning and involvement in the dental hygiene profession.
- Demonstrate ethical and professional behavior in all aspects of critical thinking, decision-making and client care.
- Critically evaluate published research and exhibit a strong awareness of the role research plays in the development and refinement of the dental hygiene practice.
- Exhibit positive attitudes about the CCD Dental Hygiene Program and encourage and mentor interested individuals toward a career in dental hygiene.
