Program admission requirements

  1. Completion of prerequisite courses:

      BIO 111 – General college biology or equivalent
      ENG 121 – English composition or equivalent

  2. Meet the assessment requirement upon applying to the college and before meeting with an advisor to enroll in classes. This involves taking a test in reading, English, math and study skills. The purpose for this assessment is to help you succeed by placing you into courses appropriate to your academic skill level. You will be required to place into courses based upon your test scores. Thus, if you would like to review for the test before taking it, you can access study guides on our web site at http://www.ccd.edu/main.aspx?CID=99.

    You may be exempt from one or more of the tests if you meet one of the following criteria:

    • You submit proof of an associate or higher degree from an accredited college or university.
    • You submit transcripts showing that you have successfully completed basic-skills instruction in reading, writing or mathematics from another accredited institution.
    • You submit transcripts showing you have successfully completed (“C” or better or its equivalent) in college-level courses in English and/or Math from another college.
    • You submit minimum ACT scores of 17 in Reading, 18 in English and 24 in Math, or SAT scores of 450 in Verbal and 560 in Math.

    NOTE: Submit copies of your college transcripts or test scores to the testing center to receive an exemption from taking all or part of the assessment test. You may fax this information to 303-556 8027.

  3. Attend an advisory meeting the second Tuesday of every month at 4:00 at the Lowry campus Bldg. 849 in room 110.
  4. Completion of Veterinary Technology application (received at the advisory meeting).
  5. All eligible applicants will be evaluated on date application is received and completion of prerequisites. Documentation of classes in progress must be included.
