Nursing is a continuous, dynamic process which centers on patient care. To be a great nurse you must have excellent critical thinking skills for assessment (data collection), nursing diagnosis, care planning, implementation of care plans, and evaluation of care plans.
To be successful in a nursing program you must be the type of student who likes to set challenges for yourself. The rigor of a nursing program requires you to go above and beyond what is expected of you. A nursing program pulls together everything you have learned in your foundation classes of human anatomy & physiology, microbiology, chemistry, algebra and humanities to make yourself a scientific and compassionate learner and hopefully a nurse.
Nursing is an art: and if it is to be made an art, it requires an exclusive devotion as hard a preparation, as any painter's or sculptor's work; for what is the having to do with dead canvas or dead marble, compared with having to do with the living body, the temple of God's spirit? It is one of the Fine Arts: I had almost said, the finest of Fine Arts. ~Florence Nightingale
