In the Spring of 2003, Community College of Denver accepted the challenge to develop and provide a training program designed to create a more qualified entry-level candidate for the security industry. The program also provides additional training for individuals already employed in the industry. The course materials use both traditional and non-traditional paths, by providing flexible schedules for students, on-line delivery of courses, and experiential learning.

The two-year associate program is designed to prepare students for working in the areas of organizational safety, homeland security, disaster planning, loss prevention, and related fields. The student has a choice of focusing his/her coursework in one of the specialty areas or selecting courses from one or more of the specialty areas. Certificate programs are also available in all the specialty areas to provide additional training for those already engaged in the industry.
