All students that are interested in being admitted into the dental hygiene program at the Community College of Denver must take this entrance exam as part of the application process. 

 

A valid government issued photo I.D. is required.  The exam is administered between the following times – please call in advance to schedule your appointment:

 

MONDAY                     9 AM – 1PM

TUESDAY                     9 AM – 4PM

WEDNESDAY              9 AM – 4PM

THURSDAY                  9 AM – 1PM

FRIDAY                        9 AM – 1PM

 

The Health Occupations Aptitude Exam is a computer based, timed test consisting of five sections:

Academic Aptitude: (90 Questions, 45 Minutes)

Spelling: (60 Questions, 15 Minutes)

Reading Comprehension: (50 Questions, 35 Minutes)

Information in the Natural Sciences: (90 Questions, 30 Minutes)

Vocational Adjustment Index: (90 Questions, 15 Minutes)

 

This test is approximately 2 ½ hours.  All five parts must be completed in one sitting.  Results will be provided at the completion of the test and your scores will be forwarded to the CCD Dental Hygiene department.

 

Calculators are NOT allowed. Scratch paper and writing utensils will be provided.

A $50.00 fee for the Health Occupations Aptitude exam must be paid before your test appointment.  On the day of the test, you will need to come to the Testing Center to get the payment form and take it to the Cashier’s office (Room 136). 

 

Students may be allowed to re-test no more than once per application cycle. 

 

We are located downtown @ the Auraria campus - http://www.ahec.edu/campusmaps/maps.htm .  The CCD Testing Center is in the South Classroom Building on the second floor in Room 223.  You may park in the Tivoli Parking Structure (TAPS) off of 9th Street and Auraria Parkway.  Bring your parking ticket with you to be validated.  The RTD Light Rail also stops at Auraria Campus on Colfax in front of the South Classroom Building. 
 
**Dental hygiene applicants unable to test at CCD must call the Testing Center to make testing arrangements.
