Scholarships constitute another type of financial assistance available to CCD students. Scholarship criteria vary, but may include academic achievement, program affiliation, civic involvement or financial need.
If a student receives a scholarship, it is counted in determining his or her financial need. Other types of aid may be reduced if the scholarship, when combined with other assistance, exceeds the student’s documented need or falls outside the packaging policy parameters.
CCD offers a variety of scholarships to students who qualify and apply in a timely manner. The amount of these awards is limited to a maximum of resident tuition and fees. Students cannot qualify for more than one for the academic year. To qualify, a student must be a Colorado resident and not have a bachelor’s degree. Students must be enrolled for at least half time (6-9 credit hours per semester). Because of limited funding, scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
The following requirements must be completed to be considered for a scholarship at CCD:
- Complete all parts of the scholarship application form
- Attach a copy of your high school transcript or GED test score
- Apply for federal Financial Aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Submit a one page statement addressing both of the following topics: How will a scholarship assist you in attaining your goals and share any unique experiences or qualities that may distinguish you from other deserving candidates. Please explain your educational goals.
- Be admitted to CCD as a resident student and be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen
STUDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY BY APRIL 15
