Welcome to Community College of Denver Dental Hygiene Program WebPages.
Established in 1996, and located on the Lowry Campus, our program actively prepares students to assume responsibility for educating the community and patients in preventive dentistry and to provide therapeutic dental hygiene care.
Admission to the Dental Hygiene Program is very competitive; the number of applicants always exceeds the number of positions available. Twenty-four students are accepted each year with classes beginning in August. We have a twenty-two operatory clinic which is dedicated soley to the education of our dental hygiene students. Students begin practicing their clinical skills in a laboratory setting, progress to practicing on partners and then proceed to supervised clinical practice with patients.
The program is a blend of academic and clinical coursework that requires attention to detail, motivation and the ability to complete tasks within a specified timeframe. The students of Community College of Denver Dental Hygiene Program are encouraged to be self-directed in their learning and to establish high standards of professional and personal excellence.
Graduates are eligible to take the National Dental Hygiene Board Examination, the Central Regional Dental Hygiene Clinical Board Exam and to apply for licensure in all fifty states. Graduates of the Dental Hygiene Program have been able to rapidly find placement in the dental health care community.
