When a class is full and closed for registration, students will have the option to wait-list the course. Once a seat becomes available due to drops, the first student on the waitlist will be notified of the opening via their college-assigned student e-mail account. The open seat is then reserved for a period of 24 hours. Students must take action to be added into the class within the time allowed, or the system will notify the next student on the waitlist of the opening.
It is important to activate the college-assigned student e-mail account as promptly as possible and check it on a frequent basis to avoid missing a waitlist notification. The college will NOT make exceptions for students who do not register within the time allowed.
The Schedule Adjustment Form with Faculty approval will NO longer be accepted for a class that is at maximum capacity. Students wishing to get into a full class must register for the waitlist.
It is students' responsibility to clear Registration Holds in a timely manner. Students who do not register before the notification expires due to Registration Holds will NOT be given an exception. Students may check eligibility to register in CCDConnect by selecting the "Registration Status" link under the "Student" tab.
After you have registered for the class you must pay your tuition in full, or make payment arrangements, prior to the published deadline. Failure to do so will result in being dropped for non-payment. If you are dropped, your spot will become available to students on the waitlist. You will not be allowed back in your classes so please plan accordingly.
The waitlist allows students an opportunity to secure a seat in a full class if an opening becomes available before the course begins.
If I wait-list a class, am I guaranteed a seat?
No, being on a waitlist does not guarantee students a spot in the class, nor does it guarantee that additional seats will be made available. It is a way for students to wait in line for a possible opening.
What courses have a waitlist?
All courses listed in the class schedule, with the exception of Open Learning courses, will have the waitlist option available when the courses become full.
Are there restrictions for wait-listing courses?
Students can wait-list for only one section of the same course. For example, students cannot wait-list for ENG 121-001 and ENG 121-002 at the same time.
Students cannot register for a course and waitlist for a different section of the same course. For example, students cannot be registered for MAT 121-001 and wait-list MAT 121-009.
Students cannot exceed 18 credit hours, including both the wait-listed and enrolled courses combined. Students who wish to exceed the 18 credit hour maximum must meet with a General Studies or Program Advisor to request an approval. This must be done prior to wait-listing for a class.
What happens when a space becomes available?
If a space becomes available, the first person on the waitlist will receive an automated e-mail from the college. The student is given 24 hours to register online for the course. Students are expected to check their college-assigned e-mail account on a consistent and frequent basis as they are responsible for all communications received.
What happens if I don’t register within 24 hours of the notification of an open seat?
Students who do not register within the 24 hour window will be dropped from the waitlist and the next student on the waitlist will receive an email notification. Students will need to get back on the waitlist for an opportunity to register for the course. The college cannot allow exceptions if the window to register has passed.
When is the last day I can get on the Waitlist?
Students will be able to wait-list until the last day to register. If a seat becomes available anytime on that day, students will not have 24 hours to register and must do so before the end of the day. Students are strongly encouraged to find open sections to avoid missing the opportunity to attend class. No late-registration will be allowed after the last day to register. Refer to the schedule for specific deadline information.
When is payment due once I register for a waitlisted course?
Tuition and fees can be paid online through CCDConnect or at the Cashier’s Office. Tuition and fees must be paid by the published payment deadline. Students should refer to the class schedule for specific payment deadlines.
If I am wait-listed, will I be able to attend class until a seat opens up?
Only students who are officially registered are allowed to attend the class.
What if I don’t get into a class for which I am wait-listed?
If you do not get into a class for which you are wait-listed, you have the following options:
Review your degree audit report from DegreeWorks to see if there is another class you can take in the current term and plan on registering for the course early next semester.
Drop yourself from the waitlist and find another class that has space available. You must do this before the last day to register.
