Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I attend orientation?
Studies show students who attended orientation programs and other first year programming like the College 101 class experience more success in college. College is an investment of time and money--you want to get the most you that can out of this experience! Orientation sessions are designed to provide you with valuable information while giving you an opportunity to connect with staff, faculty, and other students; current and new.
You will learn important information about financial aid, academic advising, student rights and responsibilities, campus resources, how to be a successful student, ways to get involved on campus and more. This will be an opportunity for you to ask general questions and receive important information about your experience at CCD!
Is orientation mandatory?
Yes, attendance at orientation will be required before course registration for all new first-time students beginning in Summer 2013. If you are a part-time, summer semester-only student please contact the orientation office via email email@example.com to inquire about the waiver process.
What happens if I show up late to Orientation?
Orientations fill to capacity very quickly, we encourage you to give yourself plenty of extra time to find our campus, park, and walk to the Orientation Location.
BE ADVISED: We reserve the right to turn away any students who arrives more than 15 minutes late to an Orientation Session. If you arrive late, you will need to sign up for a future Orientation. All of the information is very important to your success as a student here at CCD. You must complete your entire orientation session. You will be held accountable for your successful attendance.
Is there a cost to attend orientation?
No, Orientation itself is free.
Do I have to sign up for an orientation session in advance?
