Ability to Benefit (ATB) Test

NOTE:  Students who begin their program of study after July 1, 2012, must have earned a High School Diploma or its equivalent (i.e. GED) in order to qualify for financial aid.  ATB scores will no longer meet financial aid eligibility criteria for students beginning academic programs after July 1, 2012.

For students who began their program of study before July 1, 2012, the Ability to Benefit test is required for students seeking financial aid who did not earn a high school diploma or its equivalent. Students who are not high school graduates or who have not earned a General Educational Development (GED Certificate) can still qualify for aid by passing the ability-to-benefit test (ATB).
 
The Ability to benefit test is administered by the CCD Testing Center

The Ability to Benefit is not applicable to students who are currently enrolled in high school. Students are tested on Reading Comprehension, Sentence Skills and Arithmetic. To be eligible for financial aid, students must pass the three test sections in one sitting.

It is important that you notify the testing center if you are planning to take the Ability to Benefit Test (ATB).   If you do not identify the specific test, you may take the wrong assessment test and be required to retest.
