Machining

Even under the current economic downturn, the demand for machinists and machine operators remains high.  Those professions have made Manpower Inc's "Annual 10 Hardest Jobs to Fill" list in each of the past four years.

CCD is excited to have state-of-the-art machining equipment available for our students to learn-including MasterCAM and GibbsCAM.

The CCD Machining program provides you with hands on experience!  CCD Machining students learn both in the machine shop and in the classroom, spending 68-270 hours a semester studying lathes, milling machines and/ or CNC machines.  We offer six different certificates and degrees:

Basic Machining
Complete the Basic Machining program and become certified in just 16 weeks. You’ll learn the job-entry skills needed to perform most operations on the lathe and mill. You also will learn machining math and blueprint reading. When you graduate, you’ll be able to work as a machine operator. Credits you earn toward the Basic Machining certificate apply toward the Intermediate Machining, Machine Tool Technology and CNC Machining Technology Certificates.

Intermediate Machining
This program includes all of the advantages of the Basic Machining Certificate, with additional emphasis on applied mathematics and computer skills. The Intermediate Machining Certificate can also be earned in just 16 weeks, and will apply toward the Machine Tool Operator Certificate.

CNC Machine Tool Operator Certificate
The Computer Numeric Control (CNC) Machine Tool Operator Certificate prepares you with the job-entry skills needed to work vertical mill, horizontal mill, lathe, and grinder/shaper, plus CNC mill and CNC lathe.  All program credits apply toward the AAS Machining Technologies degree with an emphasis on either CNC Machining Technologies Manufacturing or Management.

Industrial Maintenance Technologies CertificateTutoring
Provides a well-rounded understanding of the entry-level skills in Computer Aided Drafting, Machining and Welding.  This set of skills would allow a student to enter manufacturing equipment servicing and repair.

Associate of Applied Sciences in CNC Management or Manufacturing
These two-year degree programs prepare students with the job-entry skills necessary to perform tasks of developing 3D programming to run a Computer Numerical Controlled machining center.
