CCD Student Chosen To Attend ASRT Annual Meeting

Community College of Denver (CCD) student Leah Borszich submitted the winning entry in a nationwide competition sponsored by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT). Radiologic Technology students from around the country submitted applications and essays to be considered for participation in the Student Intern Program at the 2011 ASRT Annual Governance and House of Delegates Meeting held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in June.

At the Delegates Meeting, interns in the program are provided with the opportunity to learn firsthand how a professional organization functions. The delegates of ASRT meet annually to “ debate and vote on motions and proposed changes to the ASRT Bylaws and to adopt clinical practice and educational standards.”  CCD Provost Bernice Harris, PhD, said, “Congratulations to Leah! What an achievement, we are very proud of her.”

Leah has dreamed of being a radiologic technician for a long time, “It’s what I’ve always wanted to do,” she said.  In order to make her dream a reality, Leah joined the Air Force and served one tour of duty in Iraq.  Now in school on the GI Bill, Leah feels including her military experience in the application letter to ASRT helped her win the internship. A focused and goal oriented young woman, Leah is happy to be at CCD, saying, “I like the program at CCD and the cost is very affordable.”
